otterkit had been bored for days. he had no one to play with (no one he knew anyway) and no one had spoken to him yet since he was new to Shadowclan. but he likes it here, right? and this is where he would stay. where his mother, ripplesplash, had lived her life as well. Shadow clan was his home now, and he was going to stay. otter kit looked around camp for a kit or apprentice to play with...
ooc. hi, i'm new here. can i join??
-
//ok, i'll drop out of this thread for now then.
-
otterkit padded through the camp of Shadowclan. he had been here for 1 moon already and had so far not met very many cats or kits. he wanted friends but didn't know how he could get them. his black and gray pelt shimmered in the early morning sunlight as he reached the entrance to the nursery. looking inside, he saw the pelts of queens and kits and realised he didn't have anyone like they had each other. he wanted a friend. he wanted a mum.
otterkit sat, licked his paw, then padded away to sit down somewhere away from the nursery.
//hi there, i'm new here and want to join shadow clan.
-
Otterkit looked up, startled, at the she cat queen standing before him. Surprised at her question he stared down at his paws and sighed. "No kits wants to play with me because i'm an outsider, a nobody," he replied. He licked his chest to smoothen the ruffled black fur.
-
Otterkit knew she was right. He was a couple of moons older than most kits and was nearing the time when he would become an apprentice. He stood and padded towards the fresh kill pile, thinking about the days when he would be able to go out and hunt for everybody else in the clan. Picking up a small mouse, he carried it to one corner of the camp. as he did this, a patrol of warriors and apprentices entered the camp. he watched them drop their fresh kill, all of them strong and agile.
-
'Hi there Moonpaw, I'm Otterkit," he mewed brightly. Looking up at the bigger she cat before he thought, I'm gonna be like her one day too, an apprentice! He flicked his black ears nervously but hoped that the feline wouldn't pick it up. He wanted to appear braver than all the other kits.
-
"Well i'm not quite old enough to be an apprentice yet. I'm only 5 moons old. But i really want to be one; like you!" Otterkit lifted his head a little higher, not so terrified of the apprentice anymore. He couldn't wait to go out hunting just like she was. Maybe she might even be my friend? he thought. He was quite new to Shadowclan and really wanted to stay. Perhaps this apprentice might make him feel more welcome. So far he had only met Badgerclaw and the other kits in the nursery.
-
Otterkit looked at the she cat's pelt, she's got black fur like me, he thought. "Do you think you could show me how to hunt?" Now was his chance to really show the clan that he was a dedicated young kit. One Shadowclan can be proud of (when he was an apprentice of course). He crouched low, as he had seen other warriors doing earlier. Was this how you did it? He wasn't sure but he wanted to impress Moonpaw all the same.
-
Otterkit lifted his head at the she cat's unexpected praise, "You think so?". He did find it weird that they looked so similar but maybe it was just fate. "I want you to be my mentor when I become an apprentice. It would be great!" He didn't think this would be a problem even though she was still an apprentice herself.
//That would be so good! I haven't thought of his history yet so it might work.
-
"Oh, thats a shame. But we can still hunt together and patrol. You'll have to show me what apprentices do," Otterkit mewed excitedly. He looked over to the nursery and thought of Badgerclaw and all the other kits. He realised he didn't belong there, he belonged in the apprentices den. Only a few more moons, he thought. Otterkit looked around camp at the warriors, wondering who was who. He hadn't really learnt all the names yet.
//ok sounds good.
-
Otterkit noticed it had started to get darker, getting into the twilight part of the day. "I should probably be getting back to the nursery," he mewed; sad that he had to go. "I'll see you tomorrow".With that he bounded off the the welcoming darkness of the nursery den. Looking back once over his shoulder the mirror older mirror image of himself standing in the camp clearing. It weird how we look so alike.
//we need to get some more people on this thread.
-
//do you know any other shadowclaners or a busier thread we could join?
Otterkit dreamt of racing through the forest and catching mice with Moonpaw. Their black pelts streaming in the wind. Almost identical.
-
Otterkit didn't know where he was. He knew he was dreaming but he had never had a dream as vivid as this before. Four cats were standing in front of him; who were they all. Then he recognised the black pelt of Moonpaw. Suddenly, as two of the cats began to speak, he felt a tingling in his paws and realised that these were his parents. What did this mean? he wondered. Was Moonpaw really his sister? He didn't recognise the other she cat at the back. Who was she? Sensing a distaste towards him he padded closer to Moonpaw and, not knowing what to do, he stood still and waited for what was to happen next.
//thanks, really appreciated :)

Otterkit knew he was safe now, with his older sister. He knew she was going to look after him. He had never met his parents before, had always assumed they had left him along in the world. But now he had a sister. He realised that Moonpaw had moved more protectively in front of him. Was there something wrong with the other she-cat?
-
Otterkit, ignoring the slight growl in Mistpaw's voice, mewed "Hi there!" But he knew there was something wrong with this situation, was it his parents? Their parents. After hearing something of urgency come out of Moonpaw's mouth he saw the other she cat, Mistpaw I think her name was, come over to him and Moonpaw. But he wasn't listening, he was so confused, why couldn't the leave now? He wanted to go back to the nursery.
-
ooc. hi, sorry guys i was a bit busy today.
ic. Otterkit ran, ran away from his sister, his parents and Mistpaw. Not knowing where he was going; darkness started to swallow him up and he started to panic; he wanted to see the light - anywhere - he didn't care where. What was wrong with his parents that Moonpaw knew about? Suddenly, he felt sleepy, really sleepy. Not wanting to go anymore he curled up and closed his eyes.
-
ic. Blinking his eyes, Otterkit woke from the darkness of his dream. Morning light filtered through the nursery; but it was only faint. It must be only just dawn. He sat up and licked his pelt to smooth his fur, and stood to stretch out his limbs. Why was he so stiff? Suddenly he remembered what had happened during the night - he had found out Moonpaw was his sister and that something had happened between her and their parents. Blinking a few more times to adjust to the light he started to pad outside the nursery.
-
"Ok Moonpaw. I didn't really know what to do there though, I was fixed in my position. I've never met my parents before you see. I thought they abandoned me; maybe they did. But I didn't know that I had a sibling, or that they are dead. They were dead weren't they?"
-
"I've heard about it. They say it's where mean cats go, if they can't enter Starclan. Will I go there if our parents are there? Am I a bad cat too?" Otterkit was struggling with his thoughts and emotions. He was still just a kit after all. But he wanted to appear strong in front of his sister. And adopted sister; Mistoaw.
